Wayne Alan Berry

Wayne Alan Berry, 52, passed away on April 1, 2022, after a long battle with MDS. Wayne was born on February 8th, 1970, to Brenda Marie Berry Ouellette and William Dean Berry. . Wayne enlisted in the United States Army on March 16th, 1989. He discharged Honorably with a mass of medals and ribbons. He served 24 years and one month . He had a very decorated military career. He retired from US Army as Sargent First Class, E-7. He served two terms during the Iraqi war period. He was incredibly proud of his Military Service. Always said he would proudly do it all again. SFC Wayne Berry gained a lot of brothers and sister along the way of his Military Service that he loved very much. Wayne happily shared lots of stories about all of them to his friends and family back home. Wayne enjoyed golfing, shooting guns, fishing, lake life, camping, bonfires drinking diet coke and LTD whiskey, he especially enjoyed time with his family and friends, or helping anyone with anything they needed. Absolutely loved being a Over the road Truck driver. Wayne was married to his first true love Shalena Mariea Dickson (Elliott) on November 14, 2021. Wayne and Shalena met through mutual friends and shortly there after became one (us). He actually had to share with his friends when he first said the L word (love) with his love. She was the love of his life and he was hers. He never knew a stranger and could always make people comfortable , anyone that knew Wayne knew he had a huge heart and was always trying to help others! He was a amazing man in so many ways ,a hero and true friend to many. Known by many as “ El Dirte.” We lost a special one with Wayne’s passing, he saw magic in life. His warm demeanor was infectious and his laugh a comfort. His “ drop” rejoined the ocean ; our dear traveler has returned home. He will be sadly missed by many . He is survived by his wife Shalena Berry and her children KandiMay Lopez, Cory Barton, Breanna Elliott and Landon Elliott. And his children Coleman Berry , Kaitlyn Berry, and Ethan Berry, (9 grandchildren Ella, Minko, Isabelle, Joelena, Jonathan, Rocky, Seanna, Cooper ,and Corbin) and His sister Kathy Berry Bolduc , brother Billy Berry, Aunt Ann Berry, and Uncle Charles Berry and several others. Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Berry McKinzie, 2021, his father, William Dean Berry 2014 and his mother, Brenda Marie Berry-0uellette 2011. A Memorial Service will be held on April 28th 2022 at 2:30 P.M.at the Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie RD. Leavenworth Kansas 66048. A Celebration of Life at 618 Cherokee St., Leavenworth KS 66048 directly after services for all friends and family.
