Thomas Dewayne Talley

Thomas Dewayne Talley, 46, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on March 5, 2026. Thomas was born on July 20, 1979, to Edward Dewayne Talley and Sheila Ann Johnson. He was also blessed with the love and support of his stepfather, Robert Johnson, and stepmother, Pam Talley. Before Thomas’s accident, he worked as a truck driver for many years. During that time, he built many relationships with people who enjoyed his over-the-top, goofy personality. Thomas had a special way of lighting up a room and always made sure everyone around him was laughing. Thomas was also known for his generous heart. He was always the first to offer help to anyone who needed it. Even after an accident that left him paralyzed, his willingness to help others never changed. If someone needed something, Thomas still tried to be the first one there however he could. Thomas was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who loved spending time with the people closest to him. Some of his favorite memories were made outdoors. He enjoyed fishing with his nephews and, in his younger years, hunting with his dad and grandpa. He also loved going four-wheeling with his dad, and life long friend/ brother Jeff. Family meant everything to Thomas. Whether it was going out to eat together, playing poker with his mom and stepdad, or going to the movies with his sister and his nephew Zachary, he treasured the time spent laughing and making memories with those he loved. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Edward Dewayne Talley, and grandparents He is survived by his mother, Sheila Ann Johnson, and stepfather Robert Johnson; his stepmother, Pam Talley; his sister, Stephanie Young and her husband John; his step-sister, Lauren Howell and her husband Chris; and his step-brother, Adam Mallard. He is also lovingly remembered by his nephews Trevor, Alex, and Zachary, and his nieces Kensey, Jane, and Chloe, Meadow along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Thomas will be remembered for his laughter, his kind heart, and the love he had for his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be made toward Thomas’ celebration of life expenses.
