Michelle Anne Rees

Michelle Ann Rees, age 49, of Lawrence, Kansas, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born January 12, 1971 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of Charles Pittman and Mary Lee Rose (Lohman) Driscoll. On March 20, 1999, in Emporia, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Bryan Rees, sharing over twenty years together. Surviving are her husband Nicholas; one daughter Sydney Nichole (Rees) Daniels and her husband Anthony Daniels of Ottawa, Kansas; two sons, Silas Alexander Rees, Sawyer Charles Rees, and her beloved niece Heather Nichole Driscoll all of the home; her mother Mary Lee Driscoll of Lawrence, Kansas; her sister, Amy Nichole Driscoll of Easton, Kansas; two dear aunts, Teri Seibold of Kansas City, Kansas and Carol Ann Lohman of Minneapolis, Minnesota and many other precious family and dear friends. Preceding her in death was her father Charles Pittman Driscoll. Michelle grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas enjoying time with her family camping in Colorado and sweet times at Perry Lake, in Kansas. She graduated from Leavenworth High School and obtained a Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Emporia State University. She worked with children as a school psychologist before devoting herself fulltime to her family, homeschooling her children, and the Lord’s kingdom, in its many forms. The Lord gave Michelle a special spirit that touched whomever was near--so open, authentic, bright and humble with an infectious zest for life. She loved and enjoyed God’s creation, kayaking with Nick, fishing, sunbathing, camping, reading on the dock, gardening, and backyard farm animals especially her ducks. She poured her life into Nick, her children, family, friends and neighbors. She fought breast cancer in her body for a decade with determination and grace. Michelle has shown us all how to live life abundantly, in the midst of a great struggle, through an unshakable faith in her Lord Jesus. Michelle’s Celebration of Life will be 11:00am Saturday, January 18th Christ Community Church 1100 Kasold Drive, Lawrence Kansas.
