Michael Kenneth Schlueter

Mr. Michael Kenneth Schlueter, 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at home. He was born July 9, 1953 in St. Charles, Missouri as the oldest of six children. He will join his wife and best friend of 42 years, Ann Schlueter, who passed away before him in 2019. He is survived by his three children including his daughter Beverly O’Neill, and her two children, Logan and Dominick, of Kansas City; his daughter Teresa Orth, and her husband Michael, and their four children, Damian, Kaya, Rose, and Wyatt, of Tucson; and his son John Schlueter, and his wife Julie, of Lees Summit. He also leaves his two brothers, Dan Schlueter, and his wife Marcia, of Cape Girardeau, MO and Ralph Schlueter, and his wife Gail, of Wisconsin; and his sister, Lori Lewis, and her husband Michael, of Warrenton, MO, He leaves his two sisters-in-law Jean Craft, and her husband Jerry, of Greencastle, Ind. and Joan Gresko, and her husband Ed of Canfield, OH and his brother-in law, John Richman, of Warrenton, MO. He has numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews in addition to his six grandchildren above. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann, his parents, Loretta and Kenneth Schlueter, his mother- and father-in laws, Mary Clara (Pivarnik) and Leonard Beene, his brotherin-law Nicola Beene, his brother, Thomas Schlueter and his daughter Ashley, his sister, Fay Richman, and his granddaughter, Neveah O’Neill. Mike was a graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School. He and his wife were hard workers all their lives and worked more than one job to take care of their 3 children over the early years of their marriage. He was still employed at the time of his death for the city of Kansas City and had been a city worker for nearly 30 years in various positions such as airport maintenance, water department, storage room, and delivery. He also retired as a beer vendor, but had worked for 30 years at the Royals and Chiefs games and various venues in Kansas City. He worked as a security guard for Pepsi Corporation near Swope prior to his wife’s death. Mike enjoyed attending Royals games over the last couple of years and even made the Jumbotron on his birthday! He also had fun going to Monster truck events and even a Nascar race! He was an avid sports fan. He brought snow to the desert in Tucson, Arizona when he visited for the first time. This made him laugh at the irony. His children remember he could be sleeping, watching sports on TV, and listening to a baseball game on the radio all at the same time as evidenced by his response to the TV channel being changed, “I was watching that”. He was a true family man making sacrifices when his kids were young to send them to Guardian Angels Catholic school, spending vacations visiting his mother and siblings, and working hard to give his family a life filled with laughter and lessons. He will be missed. A gathering visitation service for his cremated ashes will be held at 11 am to 1pm on Saturday, December 31st at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kehinde “Kenny” Morohunfola who was Mike’s primary care doctor for a few decades.
