James "Jim" Boyce Curts

James “Jim” Boyce Curts, beloved husband, father, and grandpa, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on September 12, 1952, Jim lived a life full of enthusiasm and dedication. He married the love of his life, Mary, in 1976, and together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with two children and three grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of Jim’s life. Jim had a fulfilling career in the healthcare field, working as a Director of Pharmacy at several local hospitals. He worked to help open St Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs and worked there for more than 25 years, along with directing the pharmacy at St Joseph Medical Center. He eventually left those hospitals to manage the pharmacy in Harrisonville, Cass Medical Center where he retired from in 2015. Jim was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty. He could often be overheard relaying the latest Chiefs facts, news and stats. Jim also had a keen interest in tracking storms and keeping an eye on friends and family in different areas of the country to make sure they were safe from incoming weather. Jim was also a self-taught DIYer, never shying away from a project around the house. He took great pride in maintaining his home, yard and pool, often found raking leaves or scooping up after the family pets with a smile on his face and a coffee in hand. Known for his ornery sense of humor, Jim’s playful spirit brought joy to those around him. His stories and jokes will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jim had recently said that he lived a very happy, full life and wanted his loved ones to know that should something happen to him. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; his children, Nathan Curts, Megan (Joe) Rahn; and his three grandchildren, Colton Curts, and James and Clara Rahn. He also leaves behind his three loving sisters, Sandy (Jim) Sloan, Michele Lindley, and Denise (Mark) Hoenshell. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date to be determined. His family wishes to thank the staff at Saint Luke’s Hospice House for making his last days ones of peace and comfort. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Luke’s Hospice House. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
