Dixie Lee (Hines) Greer

Dixie Lee Greer- Hines past away 4:58Am at North Kansas City Hospital on July 3rd, 2026. Dixie was born in Kansas City on August 18th,1940 to Rolla & Delma Hines; she had two older brothers Jimmy and Billy Hines. After graduating from North East High School in 1958 she went to work for Sears & Roebuck Co. There she started as a secretary at the15th and Cleveland store location. Later, after taking classes at UMKC, she was elevated in 1972 to the position as Human Resource officer. She then moved and began to work at the Front St. location for a time and later moved to the brand-new Kansas City North Antioch location. She retired from Sears in 1989 and obtained her real estate license and went to work for Century 21. Then in 1993 she left real estate and went to work for the North Kansas City school district as head of cafeteria at West Englewood Elementary School. She declared that the school cafeteria job was her best and most gratifying job of all. She was preceded in death by husband Edward Michael Greer and youngest son Robert Lee Greer; her dad Rolla & mom Delma Hines of Kansas City; as well as both brothers Jimmy and wife Linda Hines of Fenton County and Billy and Judy Hines and nephew Jimmy Allen Hines; Brother- in- law and sister- in- law Ray and Betty Forest of Independence, Sam and Patricia Lucitio of Independence; nephew Timothy Lucitio, and Father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Minnie Burns. She is survived by her eldest son Michael Keith Greer and daughter-in-law Tammy Michele Rowe both grandsons Curtis Michael Greer and Jeremy John Greer of Gladstone; her nieces Sharon & Randy Kesson, Linda & Joe Thompson, Vickey & Larry Johnson, and Theresa Hines; her nephews John & Missy Lucitio, Edward Forest, Ronald Forest, Alan Forest and Dewayne Hines; as well as numerous other loving family and friends. To The Moon and Back To Mom: She was the type of mom who cried when you got hurt no matter how small it was, who put a band-aid on and kissed the boo-boo so it would heal faster when we were small. She stood with you through your losses and helped celebrate with you through your victories. Spoiled her grandchildren beyond compare, then sent them home for you to fix. “But Dad, grandma let us!” She smoothed everything out and explained why things don't always happen the way you want, because life has its way of going a different direction, but it all comes out even in the wash. When the tears were dried and plans were put in place, to make our world more manageable again, she would tell us, “Besides You Know I Love You To The Moon and Back!”. Yea Mom, To The Moon and Back!
