She was born on September 7, 1955, and was raised in Kansas City—a place she called home her entire life and held close to her heart. Dena was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Larry Leslie, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage. Their life together was built on love, commitment, and enduring partnership. She carried that love with her always. She was a deeply devoted mother to her son, who was the center of her world. Through every chapter of life, she stood by him with unwavering love, doing her best to guide, support, and care for him. Being his mother was her greatest purpose and the role she treasured most. Dena was also a proud and loving grandmother to two grandsons and one granddaughter. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, laughter, and light. The love she had for them was something truly special and will continue to live on through them. She was a cherished sister to Connie, JR, and David, and a loving aunt to multiple nieces and nephews, all of whom she cared for deeply. Dena had a soft heart not only for her family, but for her furry companion as well. She was a loving cat mom to her kitty, Ziggy, who brought her comfort and companionship. Dena was a woman of kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Life brought her challenges, many of which she carried without complaint, but she continued forward with resilience and a strong, godly spirit. Even in difficult times, she held tightly to her faith and never lost her ability to love deeply. She found joy in life’s simple moments—working on crossword puzzles, playing bingo, or simply spending time with her family. Those everyday moments meant everything to her, because they were filled with love. Dena’s life was defined by the love she gave—steadfast, enduring, and unconditional. Though she is no longer here, her love, her strength, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
