Colten Ellis Brady May 30, 1995 – August 28, 2026 Colten Ellis Brady, 31, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, he was surrounded by the family who loved him dearly. Born May 30, 1995, in Ogden, Utah, Colten was the beloved son of Tara Flitton-Wentland and Ellis Brady. Colten’s 31 years held more life, change, laughter, adventure and perseverance than can easily be captured in words. His journey here on earth was not always an easy one, but he had unbreakable strength. Over the final years of his life he fought a fierce battle with a very aggressive terminal cancer that changed how he viewed life in every way imaginable. While the disease changed him physically, his journey also transformed him spiritually, emotionally, and mentally in some truly beautiful ways. Somewhere in the middle of fighting for his life, Colten became incredibly full of life. He is an exceptionally kind-hearted, compassionate, genuine, and gracious man. He learned to appreciate life differently, to love harder, and to recognize the importance of even the smallest moments. He truly learned what it meant to live like he was dying, and his family will forever be grateful that they were able to live those years right alongside him—making memories, loving one another, and experiencing life together. Those who knew Colten will undoubtedly remember his laugh. It was unmistakable, contagious, and capable of getting an entire room laughing along with him. He had an incredible sense of humor and a gift for bringing laughter into even the hardest moments. He enjoyed football, wrestling, camping, being outdoors, and spending time with the people he loved. Above all, Colten treasured the people in his life. He leaves behind his children, Camden Brady and Timberlyn Brady; his parents, Tara Flitton - Wentland and Ellis Brady; his sisters, Sierra Brady and Brianna Norton; and his nephews, Asher Kidwell and Hudson Kidwell, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply. Colten also shared meaningful bonds with Todd Lee, Christian Norton, and Casey Kidwell, as well as his close friends from Utah, Jordan Jarvis, Brody Nielsen, and Austin Reiter ( Brothers for life). The tremendous outpouring of love throughout Colten’s journey showed his family just how many lives he touched along the way. Colten was preceded in death by his beloved son, Makai Brady, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life, and his great-grandparents, Jerri and Patti Booth. Colten’s family extends its deepest gratitude to the entire team at Phoenix Hospice for the compassion, dignity, and care they gave Colten throughout his journey, with special gratitude to Shelby Roberts, Judi McIntosh Holden, Sandra Duncan, and Sam Montgomery. You helped him live his last months to the fullest and we gained friends for life. The family is also profoundly thankful to the nurses and staff at Kansas City Hospice House, whose extraordinary tenderness and care brought comfort to Colten and his family during his final days. In accordance with Colten’s wishes, he will be cremated. His family will hold a celebration of life and balloon release in the coming weeks, with details to be shared at a later time. Thirty-one years was nowhere near enough. But Colten leaves behind a lifetime of love, stories, memories—and a laugh that those who loved him will never forget.
