Betty Jean Weyer

Betty J. Weyer, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas peacefully crossed over on Friday morning, 11DEC2015, at Tallgrass Creek with her loving daughter by her side throughout. Family, friends and acquaintances of Betty are invited to come and help celebrate her life at a Celebration Memorial at 2PM on Monday, 21DEC2015 at Wunderlichs, 304 – 23rd Street, Columbus, NE. Because of her love of animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Paws & Claws Adoption Center, Columbus, NE or other pet rescue organizations. A private graveside interment of her ashes will be held at a later date in Marysville, KS. Betty was born in 1933 to Edna and Clifton Bothwell on a farm 5 miles north of Marysville, KS. She attended Deer Creek School and Marysville High School, where she graduated in 1952. Through family members, she met the love of her life, Raymond J. Weyer, of Barneston, NE. They were married in April 1955. They had one daughter, Bonnie. The family moved to Columbus in 1962. Betty worked at Dale Electronics until she changed vocations and went to cosmetology school in 1968. She then had a very successful career as a hairdresser, with her own home beauty shop, for more than 40 years. Betty was a shining light and was active in many organizations in the Columbus community, including Christian Women and the Red Hat Society. She had a strong faith in the Lord God and was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years. In October 2014, she relocated to Overland Park, KS to live with and enjoy time with her daughter. She thoroughly enjoyed living in the Kansas City metropolitan area up until her passing. Betty is survived by her daughter Bonnie Weyer (Overland Park, KS), a sister, Mary Ann Bothwell (Columbus, NE), two brothers, Ken Bothwell (Lincoln, NE) and Arlyn Bothwell (Redding, CA), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers (Darrell and Eddie Bothwell) and one nephew (Quentin Bothwell). The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at KU Hospital and Med Center, Tallgrass Creek, and Continua Hospice for their outstanding care and support.
