Barbara Jean Estrada

Barbara Jean Estrada, 77, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. She was born on January 2, 1949, and lived a life centered on love, family, and quiet strength. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her gentle presence, and the deep, unwavering love she had for her family. She began her career as a special education teacher, dedicating four years to supporting and uplifting her students. After the birth of her first child, Barbara chose to become a stay-at-home mother, where she poured her energy into raising her children and being actively involved in their lives. She participated in many school and social activities, always showing up with encouragement, warmth, and care. Later, she returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant at Burns & McDonnell, where she became known not only for her dedication and professionalism, but also for the welcoming spirit she brought to the office. Her desk—always stocked with a candy bowl—was a small but meaningful reflection of her kindness and generosity. Barbara was also a lifetime member of The Young Matron’s Society, contributing her time and energy to serving others and building community. She found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments. She loved arts and crafts and created many beautiful, lasting pieces, including treasured needlepoint stockings for her family. She had a special love for animals, especially her cats, who were truly her pride and joy. Some of the most cherished memories her family holds are the quiet late nights spent together working on large puzzles at the dining room table. She is survived by her son, Gabriel Estrada, and his wife, Julie Estrada; her daughter, Jennifer Estrada; her beloved grandchildren, Gabriel and Kaelyn, who brought her immense joy; and her sister, Christine Green. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Czebrinski, and her parents, Dr. Edward and Marie Czebrinski. Barbara’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. A celebration of life will be held on May 9th at Coach’s Bar & Grill on 135th St. from 3-5.
