William Robert “Bill” Matthews June 22, 1970 – May 14, 2022 William Robert “Bill” Matthews died May 14, 2022 at The University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas to Joseph and Leldon Matthews. Bill is survived by his daughters Jessica and Nichole Matthews, his parents Joseph and Leldon Matthews, sister Kathy Matthews and her partner Jenny Beaven, brother Ken Matthews and his wife Kathie Matthews, his nieces and nephews Mia, Caleb, Luke, Joshua and Rebekah, his cat Sassy, and many lifetime friends. Bill proudly served as a nurse with the 325th Combat Support Hospital in Independence, Missouri in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves in Afghanistan and Iraq. He retired from the Army Reserves in 2012. Bill was a cardiac thoracic surgical nurse for the University of Kansas Medical Center. Bill was a proud father, nurse, soldier, friend, son, and brother. A memorial service with military honors to celebrate his life will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Weston United Methodist Church in Weston, Missouri. Visitation at 10:30 AM, Service at 11:00 AM with luncheon to follow.
