Thomas George Herrera With deepest sorrow, we announce that our beloved brother and uncle, Thomas George Herrera, 61, passed from his earthly home into God’s heavenly kingdom. He was known as ‘Tommy’ by family, friends and acquaintances. Tommy was born on December 14, 1959, in Kansas City, MO., to his beautiful mother Candelaria and loving father Alphonse Herrera, both of whom welcomed Tommy into his heavenly home. Tommy was also proceeded in death by our cherished sister Rebecca Herrera, and precious nieces Jennifer Herrera and Veronica Rios. He is survived by two amazing sisters, Rose Mary Frias (Rick), and Alice Devine (JW). Also surviving Tommy are four awesome brothers, Michael, Andrew, Ed (Margaret), and John (Yvette). He is also survived by his many loving and favorite nieces and nephews, a special great-niece, and several adorable great-nephews. Tommy graduated from Westport High School in 1978. He worked in retail and in the food industry most of his life. Tommy was a person of many passions. He easily made friends and often struck-up conversations with strangers, enjoyed music of all genres, and watching old movies. He disliked cats, hated waiting in line, and would often cut in front of others. Tommy was a foodie and enjoyed dining out. Tommy often concluded his conversations and phone calls with, ‘I love you; God bless you,’ His joyful outlook on life and positive vibe was infectious. He had the biggest heart and greeted everyone with his signature beautiful smile. We would like to recognize and express our thanks and appreciation to our brother Michael Herrera. Due to Covid, we plan to celebrate Tommy’s life at a memorial service to be held at a later date. He was loved very much and is tremendously missed. We request that instead of flowers and plants, which Tom disliked, please do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness, wave or say hello to a stranger, and remember to smile.
