Linda Carolyn McDowell

Linda Carolyn McDowell 72, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House.  Born May 3, 1949, in Kaiser, Missouri she was the middle daughter of Gordon and Dorothy (Brown) McDowell.  Raised in rural Missouri Linda later moved to Kansas City where she attended Nursing school and obtained her certificate for Licensed Practical Nursing in 1969.  Linda was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor.  She was always looking to learn as much as she could.  In 1994 Linda graduated from Penn Valley School of Nursing with her Associates Degree and became a Registered Nurse.  She worked in many different areas of nursing from general medicine to home health.  Linda completed the remainder of her nursing career at Saint Luke’s Smithville Hospital taking care of patients with addiction and psychiatric disorders. She retired in 2015 and was later granted a certificate for 50 years in nursing by the Missouri Board of Nursing.  Linda was a very generous, caring, kind, and compassionate lady who loved animals, enjoyed cooking, and had a passion for politics and the news.  She had two main loves of her life; her only daughter Judy whom she raised as a single mother and her beloved dog Charlie Brown.  Linda is survived by her daughter Judy Lloyd, son-in-law Eric Lloyd, brothers Raymond and Brad McDowell along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon McDowell and Dorothy McDowell, brother Gordon Edward McDowell Sr., and sister Shirley Wooley.
