Gary Walter Wilson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gary Walter Wilson, 81, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on July 15, 2022. He was born August 1, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas and was preceded in death by his father, James, and mother Edith (Snow) Wilson, and his brothers James Wilson Jr. and Lester Wilson. Gary attended Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1958. He honorably completed 33 years of military service to the United States, serving on activity duty within the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961, and within the Army National Guard from 1976 to 2006 where he retired after 30 years with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. During that time, he spent his career as a Machinist at Sterns Block and Deffenbaugh Industries. Gary loved the Lord and was an active member of his church at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown, Missouri. He also had a love for camping, deer hunting, motorcycles, NASCAR, John Wayne, and having weekly breakfasts with his best friends, not all in that order. Gary is survived by his daughters Paula (Jeffrey) Emery and Cynthia Wilson, and his sons Michael (Sarah Shabason) Wilson, and Kenneth (Michele) Wilson; his grandchildren, Alexander Emery, Elias Wilson, Victoria and (David) Mullaley, Michael Warden, Donovan (Melissa) Warden, and Ashley Warden; his great grandchildren, Jackie, Bryona, Reagan, Liam, Aaron, Wilhelmina, Valkyrie, Kisa, and Emma, in addition to numerous relatives and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s East Medical Center, 4th Floor ICU, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and especially to Eric and Debbie Mitchell who did not know our family, but provided great assistance with taking care of Gary’s dogs and helping re-home them to their wonderful new forever homes. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date scheduled for October 2022.
