December 29, 1945 - October 16, 2019

David Lawrence Lizor, 73, died after a short battle with Cancer October 16, 2019, at a Kansas City Hospice House. He was born December 29, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland to the son of George and Nadine (Downer) Lizor. After Dave graduated High School, Dave received his BS in Business Administration from Rider University Class of 68. Dave then served with the U.S. Army, stateside, during the Vietnam War. After he returned home, he moved to Florida where he received his BA of Fine Arts from Florida International University, Class of 76. Dave wasn't done with his education yet! So, when he received the offer in 77 to Study at UMKC he moved to Kansas City, where he then studied Theatre Production. Kansas City is where Dave would call home and lay down his roots. Shortly after he arrived in Kansas City, he met his first wife Kristie Eaton. Dave and Kristie got married in 1979. Dave found out during that time that one of his greatest joys was being a father. Catherine was 4 when he met her then in 81, he had Sarah. Dave and Kristie got divorced in 1983. Shortly after Dave started his own business called Dave's Custom Carpentry. Dave coached many softball and soccer teams for his daughters and later in life for his grand kids. Dave was also a very active member in the local music scene in Kansas City and hosted monthly Jams at his house. He was a member in the Foolkiller, a Cofounder of the Kansas City Songwriters Circle, and helped to start Stage 11 at Winfield. Dave loved to volunteer and give back to the community. He believed in Kansas City and wanted to see it thrive. He was a huge Kansas City Royals fan and loved watching them win a World Series. He said he loved seeing what it did for Kansas City and was looking forward to the day the Kansas City Chiefs would win a Superbowl. Dave was also a Kansas City Docent for the Kansas City Zoo when his kids were young. Dave remarried in 1997 to Renee Tretinik they were then divorced in 2008 shortly after Dave retired his business. After his first bout with Cancer he went to work for Smithville School District as the Technical Director for their theatre department a job in which he loved deeply. Dave was one of the most kindhearted and good spirited people. He had an infectious personality that thrived and drew people to him. Not only was he an amazing father, but also the proudest of poppops. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lizor. Dave was survived by his two daughters; Cartherine Berkley, Sarah Gregg and her husband Andrew; his four grandkids; Jacob Berkley, Hailey Gregg, Andrea Gregg, and Kal-El Gregg; one sister, Ginny Mueller and one brother, James Lizor; along with many nieces and nephews.
