Colvin R. Wilson
September 30, 1952 - March 13, 2022
Colvin R. Wilson of Kansas City, MO passed away on March 13, 2022. He was born to Gus and Mary Wilson on September 30, 1952 in Talladega, Alabama. He spent a good portion of his life traveling with his family to various military bases around the US and Germany, and later took two trips to Africa and three to Canada. He graduated from Laughbon Senior High school in Ft. Lewis, Washington. He then went on to attend the University of Munich in Munich, Germany, after which he moved to Washington D.C. where he lived for 20 years and while there, studied at George Washington University. He moved to Kansas City and worked as a job coach, residential counselor, program assistant and for several years, at the prosecuting attorney's office as a paralegal. Colvin was an avid reader and had a myriad of music and movies which he had an impeccable memory of every lyric and character. He also loved basketball and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. He had an esoteric way of thinking, which would often leave you scratching your head. An interesting tidbit: Colvin attended the same chapel as Elvis Presley, when the family was stationed at Friedberg, Germany in 1958-1961, the very same post Elvis served at. Colvin's dad stayed at the same Ray barracks as Elvis and saw him on a daily basis. He was preceded by his father, Gus, and two brothers, Kenneth and Lionel Wilson and a good friend who was a dog named Yau. He is survived by his mother Mary Wilson, two sisters, Debra and Patricia Wilson, three daughters, Ayana (Chris) Dobos, Nia and Diara Wilson, one son, Jelani (Stacy) Wilson, one niece Ayah Wilson, five grandchildren, Terrell, Sydney and Joi Wilson, Xavier and Kalina Dobos, one great nephew, Tyler Wilson and three great nieces, Tayler, Kamea and Zariyah Wilson. Colvin will be tremendously missed by his family and a good number of long-time friends.
