Whitney Marie Smalley

Whitney Marie Smalley, 29, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on October 19, 1995, at Truman Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Whitney brought warmth and compassion into the world from the very beginning. A graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School in 2014, Whitney went on to earn her certification as a Nationally Registered and Certified Medical Assistant in 2016. Her dedication to healthcare was evident throughout her career. She took great pride in making patients feel welcome and comfortable—an extension of the kindness that defined her life. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Whitney made the courageous decision to become a traveling medical assistant. Over the next three years, she accepted numerous assignments across the country, including a nine-month stay in New Hampshire—the longest of her placements. Her selfless commitment to helping others during such a critical time left a lasting impact on those she served. Whitney shared her life with her beloved wife, Hannah Smalley. The two were married in 2014 and built a life filled with love and mutual support. She is survived by the love of her life, Hannah Smalley, her mother Trisha Holmes (Rob), father Jerry Hollingsworth Jr., stepmother Amber Hollingsworth, father in law Chris Smalley, mother in law Tina Hineman, siblings Michael Hollingsworth, Alyssa Hollingsworth, Anna Holmes, Dallas Hollingsworth, Jackson Hollingsworth and Sara Smalley, grandparents Jana Carr, John Thronebury Jr., Deborah Goforth, Brenda Wilson and Susan Vinson, aunts Shannon Ross (Travis) and Angela Hollingsworth, uncle Neal Wilson, nieces Layla, Madyson and Emerson, nephews Bryson, Grayson, Rekker, Rukkus and SJ, and many cousins, extended family members, and close friends. Whitney was preceded in death by her great-grandparents John and Delta Thronebury and Ray and Velma Goforth; grandfathers Bruce Johnson and Rick Wilson, great-aunt Linda Slinger, great-uncle Bill Carr and best friend Jessica Runions. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2025, at Joyful Sound Worship Center, 11400 E 218th St., Peculiar, Missouri at 1:00 pm. Her light will forever shine through the lives she touched. She will be missed beyond measure.
