Shelly Renee Rinehart

Shelly Renee Rinehart, 60, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, after battling ovarian cancer for several years. Shelly was born on June 11, 1960, to Donald Gene Rinehart and Doris “Colleen” (Williams) Howard in Sullivan County, MO. She graduated from Oak Park High School in 1978. Shelly enjoyed spending time at her grandparent’s farm in Browning, Missouri. She was truly a country girl at heart. Over the years Shelly enjoyed rock and roll music, dancing, thrift store shopping, crafting, and hanging out with friends and family. Shelly gave birth to her biggest blessing James “Mason” Rinehart on March 24, 1990. Shelly spent many years working at Cargill inspecting beans for the State of Missouri. Later on, she transferred to Erofins as a supervisor. She always loved scaling the side of the trucks to inspect, truly loving her job. Shelly was very brave as she shared her battle with “the C word” with friends and family. She shared the ups and the downs and gave hope and inspiration to others around her who were fighting their own battles. She found strength through the encouraging words others sent her. Throughout this battle Shelly trusted in Jesus through the end of her earthly life. Shelly was preceded in death by her mother, Doris “Colleen” (Williams) Howard. Shelly is survived by her son Mason Rinehart, and her father Donald Gene Rinehart, of Kansas City. Also surviving, her sisters Rebecca Uptegrove, Linda Rinehart, Jeanie Helmick-Hay, and Tammy (Kurt) Madsen. Additionally, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Big Bean. Family and friends will gather for a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Nashua Baptist Church (11408 N Main St, Kansas City, MO 64155). In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. She will be laid to rest at the Jenkins Cemetery in Browning Mo following the service. Family and friends who would like to join are welcome to follow.
