Robert Cole Neptune

Robert C. Neptune, 75, passed peacefully on August 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born October 16, 1946, in Bartlesville, OK. The oldest son of Judge Robert Herndon and Mary Francis (Cole) Neptune. He graduated from College High in Bartlesville, class of 1964. Where he made life-long friends that he looked forward to seeing at the many reunions, get togethers, and golf outings. Bob went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma, where he became an avid fan of all OU sports. Bob is a United States Army veteran, spending his active duty at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO. His intense love for Colorado grew during this time and he was lucky enough to spend several days with his son in the Colorado Mountains, before becoming ill. Upon moving to Kansas City and establishing a career, Bob met the love of his life (Mary) while working at Columbia Union Bank. He left banking to pursue opening his own leasing company. Bob was able to build a successful Public Finance Company, spending some of his time financing and developing golf courses. He became a leader in several Leasing and Public Finance Associations. The accomplishment he was most proud of was the several lifelong friendships he made in the industry. Bob’s biggest joy in life was the family he and Mary built, including their three kids, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren. He was so very proud of each of them, their accomplishments, and the lives they’ve built. He was readily available to offer advice and guidance to each one. You could ALWAYS find him on the sidelines of a game, cheering on his beloved grandchildren and extending his advice and guidance to the officials and coaches. Bob and Mary spent their 45 years together traveling all over the country with family and friends. They shared their love of Colorado, California, the beach, golfing and many more with anyone willing to come along for the adventure. In his free time, Bob loved to play golf with his many groups of friends, study golf and watch golf. He always knew what help he and others might need and never shied away from an opportunity to share suggestions. In addition, his love of music was a big part of his life, which he shared with his children and friends. One of his best attributes, that we all loved, was Bob’s ability to retain knowledge like no other. He was always the most knowledgeable person in the room, and we all knew it. He was our go-to person for trivia, music, sports, space and travel. Bob was extremely loved by his surviving family, including his wife, B. Mary (Windham) Neptune, his children, Kristofer Neptune, Jennifer & Alan Welty, Nicole & Sean Dooley, his six grandchildren, Lilianne Neptune, Nora & Jude Welty, Jackson, Joey & Jordyn Dooley. His siblings, Mary Louise & John Kidd, Patsy & Jerry Crombie, John & Cindy Neptune. In addition, his beloved in-laws, Toni Dickerson, Martha & John Sizemore, Tom Windham, Jonie Windham, Jacob & Karen Windham, Joe & Cindi Windham, Pat & Veronica Windham, Marie Macom and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a good man who was a loyal and loving Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and friend. As we said goodbye, his greatest wish was fulfilled, to be with his family.
