Mary Jane Odor-Mays

Mary Jane Odor-Mays, long time resident of the Historic Northeast area, passed away Saturday, August 20th, 2016 in the beautifully hand crafted home she treasured, surrounded by the people she loved, the dog she spoiled and the bird she had to have. A Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother, she was an exceptionally hard worker with a heart of gold. She had a smile that could light up a room and a spirit that could brighten anyone’s day. She was the type of person that always saw the best in those around her and never knew a stranger. She was a woman of strength and independence. She was never one to give up easily, and always did things her own way. Most remembered for her generosity, and unique style she fashioned her own beautiful legacy, a legacy of love that can be seen all in those who survive her. Her love shines in the eyes of her husband, Billy, who she cherished and adored (but will forever be completing her honey do list). Her life and accomplishments are honored by Don Alan, her son, whom she always got on to, even though he is the only one that has ever known the true beat of her heart … but will never get things “right” in her kitchen. She leaves behind her strong family values in Julie, the daughter she appreciated beyond words. Her spirit lives in the hearts of her three granddaughters, Deidre, Doniel and Devin (and their families). The granddaughters she spoiled beyond measure during her favorite holiday season, even if they stole drinks of her sweet tea all year long. Her smile lights up in the faces of her three Great Grandson’s, Jackson, Owen and Wesley, that will forever remember Grandma Janie for her perfectly popped popcorn, real cream soda’s and wonderful train sets. Her heart of gold touched many others she is survived by: Siblings (Jake, Dale, Sue, Pat, Letha and their families) Step-Sons (William, Chris, Danny and their families) Step-Daughters (Christina, Aimee and their families) and many extended Grandkids, Nieces and Nephews. In her final journey she joined Mother (Ollie) Father (Raymond) and Siblings (Carol, Charlotte, Dana, and Jeff) where she will wait for those she loved. Until that day, Home was her favorite place to be, and there she will remain, at home in our hearts. Forever loved and always treasured, Honey, Mom, Grandma, Janie.
