Loren Kay Robinson

Loren Kay Robinson and his twin Ray Robinson were born December 13,1942 to Vernon Ray Robinson and Katherine Amer Robinson. Loren grew up in the Kansas City area. He married Barbara Kay Greer December 29,1961, to this union four children were born Loree Kay Robinson October 13-15, 1962, Leon Reed Robinson October 7,1963-September 6,2020, Kevin Kay Robinson May 30th, 1965-May 26, 2005, Kenneth Nathan Robinson May 30, 1965. Kay and Barbara adopted three of their four grandchildren Pleasants Kay Robinson, Derek Kay Robinson, and Nathen Slade Robinson. Kay also had a grandson Jemery Nathen Robinson. 8 Great-Grandchildren Kyleigh Mora, Emery Robinson, Chase Robinson, William Murray, Bryson Murray, Jayden Robinson, Bentley Robinson, and Wyatt Robinson. Loren was known as Kay by his friends and family. Throughout his life Kay held many jobs he retired from Lipton Tea in Independence Missouri, owned and operated a Fruit Market on 24 Hwy and Glenwood in Independence Mo, ran the snack bar at West Port Flea Market , Was a auctioneer known as Col. L.K. Robinson ,He also owned and operated fruit and vegetable stands becoming known as the Tightwad Tomato Man when he moved to Tightwad Mo. Kay and Barbra were well know and Loved by many. Kay always had a story to tell as his life was full of adventures. One of his favorite stories was about his favorite President Harry S. Truman , as he sold him Watermelons, he even had a handwritten Thank you note. Kay had a knowledge of Antiques and collectables like no one else and he was well known for getting a deal. Kay and Barbara moved back to Independence mo. where they continued to sell vegetables and hanging baskets of flowers on 39th and Sterling . Kay continued his love of selling and buying until the end of his life. Loren Kay lost the love of his life March 8th, 2023, when his beloved Barbara passed away, he spent his final days at home with his son Kenny and grandson Nathen, dog Daisy Mae, and cat Blake. He left this world May 27, 2023, to be with his beloved wife Barbara, children Loree, Leon and Kevin. Loren Kay is survived by son Kenny, grandson Nathen of the home, Sister Linda Falkinberry of Tightwad Mo. And many loving Nieces and Nephews, grandchildren and friends.
