Joyce Anne Mellott Taylor

Joyce Anne (Mellott) Taylor, 70, of Leawood, KS, formerly of Raymore, MO, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2020, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th, at the Silver Lake Club House, 113 Silver Lake Circle, Raymore, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made to the family in care of Robyn Domer-Blede to offset funeral expenses or to Kansas City Hospice In Memory of Joyce Anne Taylor. Joyce was born on July 28, 1949 in Kansas City, KS, the first child of John Patrick and Jo Anne (Millsap) Mellott. Joyce grew up in Edwardsville, KS with her three brothers, graduating from Bonner Springs High School with the Class of 1967. Her proudest accomplishment was being a head cheerleader throughout her high school years. In her younger years, Joyce enjoyed, spending time with her family and friends, playing softball, and watching her three children play the many sports that they loved. Joyce was a devout Christian and was a faithful child of God. On March 17, 1984, two families became one when Joyce married Carl Maurice Taylor in Kansas City, MO. They made their home in the Edwardsville-Bonner Springs area, Junction City, KS, and Wichita, KS, before separating in 2011. Joyce and Carl remained the best of friends until his death on January 7, 2015. In her later years, Joyce was a loving grandma who enjoyed doing anything her grandchildren were doing, whether it was attending soccer games, basketball games, and dance competitions or sitting in the living room playing Monopoly or UNO. She cherished every moment she got to spend with them, and especially enjoyed their sleep-overs. She was happy if her grandkids were happy. Joyce also enjoyed cooking dinner for her family, visiting with her beloved cousins, and watching television, especially football and basketball games and tv crime dramas. Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John Mellott, Sr. and Jo Anne Dobbs, step-father, John Dobbs, and two brothers, John Patrick “Jack” Mellott, Jr. and Joseph Lee Mellott. Joyce is survived by her three children, Jeff Domer (Dawn) of Lenexa, KS, Robyn Domer-Blede (Mike) of Raymore, MO, and Julie Vannatter of Lee’s Summit, MO; eight grandchildren, Lauren Vannatter (Cole Christopherson) of Overland Park, KS, Landon Vannatter (Kylee Kauffman) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Brady, Jayce, and Kaedyn Blede of Raymore, MO, Keegan Domer of Kalispell, MT, Alexius Dunn (Antonio) of Dallas, TX, and Jaiden Domer of Raleigh, NC; two greatgranddaughters, Arianna and A’shaiya Dunn of Dallas, TX; one brother, Jerry Mellott of Columbia, MO; former daughter-in-law, Heidi Domer of Raleigh, NC, as well as three stepchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Joyce will be cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date.
