Jerry Lee Mills

Jerry Lee Mills, 59, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on October 24, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 9, 1961, to Jessie Lee Mills and Ida Pearl Kirks Mills. Jerry loved to build hot rod cars with big motors, and raced a couple of them at the old Lakeside Speedway and I-70 Speedway. He was a mechanic by trade and a Jack of all trades. He loved to turn those wrenches. Jerry loved to have a good time, down a few beers, and play horseshoes with his friends and family. He loved to hunt, fish, listen to good music, good times, was always laughing and made those around him laugh. He also loved to cook. Jerry was a very good man who would give you the shirt off his back. Surviving Jerry is his loving wife of 25 years, Deann Joy Mills, of the home; his mother Ida Pearl of Independence, Mo.; daughters Nichole (Joshua) Mills of Bates City, Mo., Joy (Anthony) of Independence, Mo. and Talisha Baker of Kansas City, Mo.; and sons Jeremiah Mills of Independence, Mo. and Cody Vaughn of Independence, Mo. Grandchildren: Casey Mills (Jaylynn), Skyler Joplin, Sahrinity Gilmore, Sylis Mills, Angelnichole Gilmore, Logan Mills, Isaiah Mills, Jennilee Adams, Brooklynn Adams, Anthony Miller Jr., Matthew Miller, Issac Miller, Angelina Miller, Roy Carlock III, William Miller, Cayden Vaughn, Chontez Davis Jr. A great-grandson Rowan Joplin and great-granddaughter Janiya-Renea Mills. Sisters: Deborah Fulbright (Billy) and Terri (Larry) Akers both of Independence, Mo., and Mary Sue (John) Turner of Versailles, Mo. Brothers: Lee Roy Mills of Independence, Mo. and Gary Mills of Kansas City Mo. Aunts; Esta Wilson of Independence, Mo., and Donnie (Jimmy) Simpkins of McGee Crossroads, North Carolina. And many nieces and nephews. Preceding Jerry in death were his daughter Amanda Daniela Mills (twin to Jeremiah), granddaughter Kearsten Brown, Brother Lonnie “Butch” Mills and his father Jessie Mills. His Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW in Sugar Creek Missouri 12810 E Kentucky Road Independence Missouri 64050 2-6 PM on November 21st 2020 It will be a Pot Luck dinner for family and friends to celebrate Jerry
