Helen Delaune Houston

Helen M. Delaune Houston who was a wonderful mother and friend, and beautiful spirit passed away April 24, 2020 at the age of 82. Helen was born February 1, 1938 to Leonard Joseph Delaune and Helen Wise Harvey Delaune in New Roads, Louisiana. She lived in several states and overseas while married to Louis A. Perrault, USAF the father of her four children. She stayed in Kansas City to which she said she had finally found 'home'. She loved the people, the beauty, the history, the changing of the color of the leaves in the fall and all things Kansas City had to offer. Helen's first love was being a mother to her four children and she dearly loved and was very proud of her only grandchild Lauren A Heitz. She cared for Benjamin Pierce and Meghan Dean for many years. They brought her much joy while watching them learn and grow and they held a special place in her heart. She loved trying new restaurants and different cuisines. She loved various genres of music especially Blues and enjoyed seeing her favorite artists in concert. These events were highlighted when she was able to share them with her youngest daughter Tina and Tina's friends along with her grandnieces Lindsay and Caitlin Croker. Her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, gardening, decorating and remodeling her home. Her most fulfilling and rewarding occupation was a counselor at Jenny Craig. To her it was not only about weight loss, but the extra care and attention to help clients with all aspects of their lives. She is survived by three of her children Robert 'Kirk' Perrault, Tina Perrault and Janine Perrault Feeback, her son in law Charles Heitz and granddaughter Lauren A Heitz. She was also survived by her 3 sisters Yvonne Delaune Bergeron, Joyce Delaune Talbot, Eloise Delaune and her husband Kerry M.Callegan; 4 brothers, Edwin L. Delaune, David H. Delaune, J. Michael Delaune and his wife Paula Morel Delaune, Charles K. Delaune and his wife Elizabeth Burns Delaune, her sister-in-law Annina Barth Delaune and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alicia A Perrault Heitz, parents Leonard Joseph and Helen Wise Harvey Delaune, brothers Aubert “Butch” J Delaune, George F Delaune and L. Boyd Delaune. A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at KUMC and St. Luke's Hospice House for the loving, comforting care and for the kindness and dignity given to our mother. She will be dearly missed by her children, family and friends. Due to the COVID-19 virus Quarantine a memorial will be held at a later date.
