Donald "Donny" E. Pounds

Donny (Donald E. Pounds), of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love that will continue to live on through his family and friends. Donny proudly served his country in the United States Navy before dedicating many years of his life working as a painter for the Brewers. He was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. He had a special gift for making something out of nothing and could fix, build, or create just about anything he set his mind to. Donny found peace and happiness in nature. He loved music, spending time outdoors, and being by the river. Whether he was enjoying the sounds of nature or sharing stories with family and friends, he appreciated the simple things that made life meaningful. Anyone who knew Donny knew he could make them laugh. He was funny, stubborn, generous, and fiercely hardworking. He had a nickname for everyone he loved, and his jokes often left people shaking their heads before bursting into laughter. One of his favorite sayings was, “Ya baby,” a phrase that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Donny was preceded in death by his father, Donald Pounds; his mother, Jessie Frost; and his brother, David Pounds. He is survived by his daughters, Robin Pounds and her husband, Zack Loya, and Kamea Pounds; his brother, Eric Pounds; his sister, Carma Massingill and her husband, Brian Massingill; his cherished grandchildren, Arieanna, Alexzavier, and Jayden; and many nieces, nephews. Above all else, Donny was a loving father and an incredible grandfather. He was the kind of dad who was always there and the kind of grandpa every child hopes for. His grandchildren loved him dearly and learned so much from him through his stories, his example, and the time he spent with them. The lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain with them forever. While our hearts are broken by his loss, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to have with him and the countless memories he leaves behind. We will miss his voice, his humor, his nicknames, and hearing him say, “Ya baby.” Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply. Donny will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered. A Celebration of Life honoring Donny will be held at a later date. Details will be disclosed soon.
