Daniel Jerome Sage

Daniel “Jerry” Sage came into this world on July 23, 1948 in Fillmore, Utah; he left it behind on August 10, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Lenexa, KS. Daniel was a zeitgeist, his experiences and life echoing the 70 years which he walked this Earth. He would split his adolescent years between the rural farming community in which he was born and the urban Salt Lake City. Embodying the young 50s rebel while attending West High and developing a love for hunting and fishing in the mountains and valleys surrounding Fillmore. At the age of 17 he would join the army, seeing both the center of the Cold War in West Berlin, while guarding the final Nazi prisoner at Spandau, and fierce fighting while serving in Vietnam. Upon leaving the army and returning to the states Daniel would once again draw upon the spirit of his age and find himself a hippie. Trying to turn people on to a more loving way of life. As the seventies flowed into the eighties Daniel would find himself raising a family and running a successful business in southern Utah. During the next few decades life would lead back to Salt Lake City and then onto Kansas City. The path of life is rarely smooth and even and while Daniel would traverse many a rough path, he never lost his love of family and pursuit of truth. Above is but a small outline of a brave and daring life, laid between each line are a myriad of stories and tales that made the man whom we all knew and loved. But as the man who was best equipped to tell them has passed on I shall not recount them here. I call upon each of you to recall those stories and experiences which you loved most about Daniel Sage and share them with those you love. Daniel was born to Bonnie James and Daniel Sage, both of whom are waiting for him, and is survived by his wife, Carole Sage, and children, Orihah and Daniale Sage. His brother Mike Sage passed before him but is survived by his siblings, Mikki Harper, Shauna James, Kevin James, Kelee Brooks, Phil Sage and Steve Sage. The family would like to thank all those that have sent their thoughts and prayers to Dan and his family. As well as the doctors and nurses who cared for him during his stay in the VA MICU and the hospice nurses who made his last days more comfortable. The family will holding a memorial services at a later date.
