Carl Eugene Moeder

Carl Eugene Moeder, 65, of Overland Park, KS, peacefully passed away in the evening of April 15, 2014 while surrounded by loved ones, after a brief, but valiant battle with cancer. He will be remembered for his memorable personality, persistent motivation, perpetual encouragement, kindness to others, willingness to extend a helping hand, a captivating and infectious laugh and smile, and a zeal for life. Carl was born on June 7, 1948 in Great Bend, KS, to Carl Paul and Muriel Dean Louise Moeder and was the oldest of 10 siblings. His professional career included over 20 years of service with the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon leaving, he went to work for himself where he started and managed several successful small businesses. He was a consummate salesman and invoked his lessons in sales in everything he did. He was a proud father of three children and all of their accomplishments, no matter how big or small. His passions included his family and friends and the game of golf. For decades, he was an avid golfer and played thousands of rounds and on courses across the world including in Europe, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his son and favorite golfing buddy, Nicholas Moeder; his former wife, Carol Moeder; and his youngest brother, Gregory Dean. He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Moeder of Overland Park, KS; son, Matthew Moeder and his wife Valerie of Kansas City, MO; six brothers, Bob (Leona) of Topeka, KS; Don (Luce) of Carbondale, KS; Paul of Miami, FL; Mark (Deborah) of Topeka, KS; Kenny of Humble, TX; David of Blackwell, OK; two sisters, Theresa (Ron) Hutton of Edmond, OK; Marjorie (Bobby) Krout of Ponca City, OK; his devoted girlfriend, Barbara Allen of Lee's Summit, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends. Memorial services will be in the afternoon on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Combs Memorial Chapel at Country Club Christian Church located at 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64113. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30 and the memorial service will begin at 2:00. Memorial contributions may be made to Country Club Christian Church.
