Bryan Scott Walkenhorst

Bryan Scott Walkenhorst (Bman), 47, passed away at his home in Independence, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. Bryan was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jimmie and Phyllis Walkenhorst on August 28th, 1976. Bryan married Cynthia on October 19th, 2012. They spent 16 years together. Throughout his life he worked in several different fields. When he was a young adult, he started working as a tow truck driver. From there, he opened his own construction business. Then, he worked doing maintenance with his brother-in-law. He then went on to attend and graduate from Swift Driving Academy to receive his CDL and became an over-the-road truck driver. His most recent profession was working as a handyman/maintenance technician for his wife’s business before becoming fully disabled. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Walkenhorst and his stepsister, Trisha Shewell. Bryan is survived by his wife, Cynthia Walkenhorst, his sons, Jacob Lantz and Robert Walkenhorst, his stepchildren, Amber Higgs and Devon Kimball, his sister, Sandy McElhiney (Deral), his mother, Phyllis Walkenhorst, his grandson, Jaxon Kimball, his nephew, Stephen McElhiney, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a beloved husband, brother, son, father, stepfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, pawpaw, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. But more than anything, Bryan was devoted to his family, especially his grandson Jaxon. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. In his free time, Bryan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Bryan’s Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at Jackson County Shrine Club located at: 120 South Pleasant Street, Independence, Missouri 64050.
